Success Training Bible Study - Genesis Chapter 24
Chapters 24 - A Commitment to Performance and People
a success training Bible study of Chapter 24
The remainder of the story is an example of something lacking in Today’s mans response to God’s provision. The family of Rebekah wanted them to delay for a few days before returning to Abraham’s tent. Eliezar did not want to delay. God had made His provision and had acted according to His plan. In the mind of the servant Eliezar There was no need for delaying. Rebekah agreed and they left for her providence.
Eliezar demonstrate something here that too often modern man forgets. Often in the performance of our duty we tend to let thing slip. He and Rebekah had made a commitment to action (God’s action) and they would not let anything else get in the way of complying with the performance that God required. This is an excellent principle that this success training Bible study stresses. Eliezar would not even let perfectly legitimate requests come between him and the task which he had undertaken. People like that are today considered “workaholics”. It appears to me though that perhaps he knew something about commitment to performance that is too easily overlooked today. Sometimes in the world of principles and performance the forgotten ingredients are people. This often happens in businesses that are driven to meet a goal at the expense of their exhausted employees. This often occurs in churches who demand that adherence to principles is the anvil upon which sensitive souls are broken and shattered. The servant’s commitment to his master Abraham need no elucidation. The remarkable commitment of Rebekah to a man she had never met nor even seen based solely on the direction given her life by The Lord is unparalleled. Also we see Deborah’s commitment to Rebekah from infancy and continuing throughout the many painful years to come. Unfailing personal commitment is priceless and in our success training Bible study an absolute must. Isaac awaited the arrival of the caravan. He greeted them and saw for the first time his bride. There is no greater human commitment than the commitment of a husband to his wife and a wife to her husband. I believe that there is so much failure in marriage today because of the shallowness of commitment in marriage. The heartache comes when people think that they have found a better way.
