Success Training Bible Study - Genesis Chapters 24-26
Genesis 25 (3 Stages on earth)
a success training Bible study of Genesis Chapter 25
The three stages of earthly existence are 1)in the womb, 2)in the tomb, and 3) all of the time between womb and tomb. Our earthly experiences start in the womb and terminate in the tomb. Even though we spend a great deal of time speculating about the time in the womb and in the tomb, we are consumed by a fascination of the time spent between the two.
Knowing that Abraham lived to be 175 years old (Gen 25:1), his death was probably no surprise. What is surprising is that, even though we have (for the majority of us) plenty of indications to the approach of death, very few are truly prepared. We see in our success training Bible study, from the account of Abraham’s life, the plan that God had. Abraham dedicated his life to doing what God directed him to do. Today, when the world sees someone with talent or intelligence, they’re always encouraged to become a doctor or lawyer or architect or something that will bring them honor, prestige and wealth. How often do you hear of someone with great talent to be encouraged to go into the ministry or to dedicate their life to God’s service? The world view is that time and resources dedicated to God’s service is wasted. We hear, “Man, he or she could have been anything he or she wanted. Why did he or she waste all of that to become a missionary?” The Bible tells us that we need to give our very best to Christ. This success training Bible study echoes that most important principle. If you look closely, everyone who gives their life, dedicates their time and resources to Christ, are very successful (maybe not in the world view but in God’s view.) Abraham remarried after the death of Sarah. He had a bunch of children but his legacy was passed down to Isaac. This was God’s will. He made provision for the others but according to verse 5 he gave everything he had to Isaac. Abraham’s death also broth together Isaac and Ishmael to honor their father. Isaac prayed that his wife Rebekah (who was barren) would conceive. God granted Isaac’s prayer and Rebekah conceived. Again we see a spiritually oriented birth. Here we are introduced to the twins, Esau and Jacob, This is a great example of the choices that we can make and the lifestyles from which we can choose. Though the question introduced was ‘birthright’, we see that Esau was not interested in spiritual matters. He was interested in worldly matters. Jacob want the role of priest. He was drawn to the spiritual aspects of life. He got the birthright.
