Success Training Bible Study - Genesis Chapter 7b
Faith - a rebuke to the unfaithful
a success training Bible study Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
In Genesis 7:1 God described Noah as “righteous before Me in this generation”. From experience we know that the things that delight God are usually points of contention for those who do not believe or hold any respect for God. In our desire to please God, we often find that we displease those who oppose His authority. The Apostle Paul, in his second letter to the Corinthians, chapter 2. Verses 15 and 16, describes the believer, “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?” As in all Bible studies, in this success training Bible study we learn that the hearts of men determine their acceptance or rejection of God, His Holy Word and the success to which He directs us. We are told that Noah preached the revelations of God to those around him. They looked upon him much the same way as many react to the preaching of God’s Word today. As far as God’s desire to prosper His people is concerned, the group of nay-sayers and non-believers includes a great portion of those who profess to believe God. I am confronted daily by Christians who do not believe that Christians should bother with all of that ‘success’ stuff. How can there be a success training Bible study? My question is “How do you devote you life, every breath of it, to a Savior and then refuse the guidance He offers in His Holy Scripture toward your success”? Jesus told us the story of planting seeds. Noah found that the hearts of his contemporaries was stony ground. There may have been a few in the crowds who wanted to believe what Noah was saying but because they had been taught by others, maybe men of authority, that Noah’s kind of thinking would cause them to have to forfeit their pleasurable lifestyles. If you want to tame a lion, you must be in the cage confronting the lion. The early Christians in Rome were thrown to the lions. Instead of letting the strength of Christ tame those lions (remember Daniel’s story) they were devoured because of their fear which made them weak. We can either be, with Christ’s strength, tame our lions or by listening to others we can be their lunch. Be a lion tamer!
